Maria Dunaevsky (°1995, Kharkiv, Ukraine) is an artist who mainly works with photography and bookmaking. Her work examines the themes of environmentalism, conservation, and impermanence within the Anthropocene.
Dunaevsky's practice speaks to the way we treat and interact with nature in paradoxical methods. Acting in forms of preservation, sterilization, and ultimately destruction of plants. During these times of great uncertainty towards the future of our planet, we must ask ourselves how we can further help to nurture the plants around us and the organizations fighting for their rights.
Maria Dunaevsky currently lives and works in Chicago, IL.
